General Requirements
- Pass vision test
- Pass written knowledge test
- Pass road skills test
- Residency: Must establish Pennsylvania residency. New residents must get a Pennsylvania license within 60 days of establishing residency.
- Parental consent: Required for applicants under 18 years of age
- Other: Learner's permit holders must complete 65 hours of supervised driving, including 10 hours of night driving and 5 hours in inclement weather before applying for a junior license. Junior license holders have restrictions including no driving between 11 PM and 5 AM (with exceptions) and passenger limitations (one non-family passenger under 18 for first 6 months, then up to three). To get a full license before 18, must hold junior license for one year with clean driving record and complete an approved driver education course.
