General Requirements
- Pass vision test
- Pass written knowledge test
- Pass road skills test
- Residency: Must be a New Jersey resident and provide two proofs of residency such as utility bills, tax statements, lease agreements, or first-class mail from government agencies within the past six months
- Parental consent: Required for applicants under 18 years of age
- Other: Special learner's permit holders must complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a licensed driving instructor, practice supervised driving for at least 6 months (if under 21) or 3 months (if over 21), complete 50 hours of supervised practice driving including 10 hours at night (for drivers under 21), and display GDL decals on license plates when driving with a provisional license

- At least one primary document
- At least one secondary document
